Helen Roberta Woodmansee age 89 of Leesburg died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was born June 27, 1914 near Careytown the daughter of the late Harold D. and Nina E. Nelson Michael. She attended elementary school on Morris Rd. and Olive School both in Fayette County. She graduated from Highland High School in 1932 and continued her education at Capital University in Columbus. Helen was a bookkeeper at the Highland Farmers Exchange for seven years. She was an active and devoted member of the Highland United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board in various capacities, as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent along with being treasure of the Highland United Methodist Women for 40 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Leesburg Chapter #57 serving as Worthy Matron in 1963, a member of the Alturistic Association of Leesburg, Farm Council, the Highland County Farm Bureau and former member of the Wayne Township Women’s Christian Temperance Union. On November 8, 1936 in Carlisle, Ohio she was united in married to Floyd C. Woodmansee by Rev. John M. Garst their former pastor and Superintendent of Highland Schools. Together they farmed in Clinton and Highland County for 43 years until his death on November 17, 1979. She continued the family farm with her children and grandchildren until the time of her death. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta and James Naylor of Wilmington, Diana and Douglas McKay of Leesburg, 6 grandchildren, Timothy Naylor, Andrew McKay, Steven (Jennifer) Carson, Julie (Matt) Crozier, Kara (Brian) Stewert , Barry (Ami) Carson, 5 step grandchildren, Tony Naylor, Lawrence Russ, Stephanie, Michael and Douglas McKay Jr., 9 great grandchildren, Matthew, Jarred, Elizabeth, Alexandria and Allyson Carson, Rebecca and Jacob Stewart, Wyatt and Carson Crozier, 3 step great grandchildren, Kamron Cooper, Samantha and Shay McKay, brother-in-law, Don M. Brown of Tavares, FL, sisters-in-law Joanne Michael Johnson of Chillicothe, Margaret W. Burton of Wilmington, 5 nephews, 3 nieces and 19 great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Brown and a brother, Harold Michael Jr. Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Highland United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the New Vienna Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the church.
