
William A. "Bill" Turner age 79 of Hillsboro died Wednesday evening, March 5, 2003, at the Highland District Hospital. He was born December 16, 1923 in Hillsboro the son of the late Lyman and Ethel Aitken Turner. Bill was the founder of the Turner & Son Funeral Home serving the Highland County community since 1947. He was the timekeeper for the C.S. Bell Company for 20 years, and with his wife, Bea, owned and operated the A. & W. Root Beer Stand in Hillsboro for more than 10 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro where he served as Deacon and Elder and was a Member of Session, 50 year member of Highland Lodge 38 F&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, a Kentucky Colonel, life member of F.O.E. Aerie #1161 and B.P.O.E. #361, a 50 year member of Royal Arch Masons Chapter #40, a member of the I.O.O.B., a Tennessee Squire and a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens. On June 3, 1946 in Hillsboro, he married Beatrice E. Hill Turner who survives. He is also survived by sons and daughter-in-law, William A. Turner II of Cincinnati, Craig and Ellen Turner of Hillsboro, a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Dr. Steve Rothan of Cincinnati, seven grandchildren, William A. (Amy) Turner III of Columbus, Erin C. and John L. Turner of Hillsboro, Shannon, Erica, Sarah, and Ian Rothan of Cincinnati, two great grandchildren, Madelaine and Aaron Turner of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Helen Jean Simkins and Margaret Ann Turner and one brother, Robert Craig Turner. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro. Rev. Maurice Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hightop Cemetery were Bro. Wiley Perkins will officiate the committal service. Friends may call 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the Turner & Son Funeral in Hillsboro. Masonic services with Scottish Rite Ring service will be 6:45 P.M.
