Nolan K. Zornes, age 72, of Hillsboro, died Sunday September 1, 2002 at the Highland District Hospital.  He was born February 14, 1930 in Mays Lick, Kentucky the son of the late Claude and Alma Kate (Highlander) Zornes.  He was a member of the Carpenter’s House of Prayer where he was Sunday School Superintendent, Board Member and Trustee; a former member of the Hillsboro Church of God for 23 years, he was involved in building the church and was Sunday School Superintendent; a member of the Highland County Trailbreakers; a Veteran of the Army during the Korean Conflict; formerly worked at the Press-Gazette as a line and type operator; and was former owner and operator of Nolan’s T.V. Repair from 1953 until his retirement in 1992.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn (Hurst) Zornes to whom he married July 14, 1951; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kimble and Linda Zornes, of Hillsboro, Dale and Elissa Zornes, of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Allen, Aaron Zornes, Jeremy (Reyna) Zornes, Nathan Zornes, Krystal Zornes and Jennifer Zornes, all of Hillsboro; one great-grandchild, Garrett Allen, of Hillsboro; one brother Cecil (Buena Bowman) Zornes, of West Union; one sister Marcella (Sammy) Rourk, of West Grove, Pennsylvania; two half brothers Jerry and Gary Zornes and one half sister Rebecca Zornes and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Nolan Keith Zornes, Jr. in 1952.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the Hillsboro Church of God with Kimble “Kim” Zornes officiating.  Rev. John Maggard, Rev. Sam Sayler, Rev. Avery McCleese and Arlene Miller with assist with the service.   Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of God.  Memorial donations, if desired, can be made to the Building Fund, Carpenter’s House of Prayer, P.O. Dear Zornes, So sorry to hear about Nolan. He was a very talented & dedicated man! His knowledge spread through out our generations! My grandparents Orvie & Ruth Harshbarger spoke so highly of him!
