Jean Young, age 72, of Hillsboro, died Friday afternoon, September 10, 2010, at her residence. She was born August 19, 1938, in Marion, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Garland and Pauline (Morgan) Finley. She was a member of the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church, and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. On March 10, 1953, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she married her husband of fifty-seven years, Charles Young, who survives. She is also survived by three children, Dennis Young of Hillsboro, David Young and his wife Janice of Rockwood, Tennessee, Cheryl Collins and her husband Dennis of Hillsboro, a “special” daughter, Tammy Lower of Jeffersonville, six grandchildren, Mary Beth (Brad) Sonner of Hillsboro, Josh (Anneka) Collins of Hillsboro, Tiffany (fiancé Shawn Workman) Collins of Hillsboro, Robert (Anna) Young of Wilmington, Jeremy Collins of Hillsboro, James Young of Hillsboro, a special grandson, Justin Steele of Macarthur, nine great grandchildren, Sheyenne Sonner, Gatlynn Sonner, Avrynne Sonner, Kieran Young, David Young, Riley Buzard-Collins, Dalayna Collins, Raeden Workman, Paysen Collins, three sisters, Louise (Ray) Morgan, Wilma ( Ralph) McKinney, Judy (Roger) Arrowood, all of Marion, North Carolina, a brother, Doyle (Jan) Finley, of Marion, North Carolina, as well as special friends Carol Setty and Liz Slater, both of Hillsboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Finley, a sister, Carolyn Mitchell, and a great granddaughter, Brookelyn Young-Fraley. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church and on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
