Ernest
Richard Wilson age 77 of Lynchburg
died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at the Blanchester Care Center where he had been a
resident since November 1983. . He was born August 5, 1927 in Rainsboro, Ohio
the son of the late Sam and Sally VanHook Wilson. He was a former Lynchburg Fire
Department volunteer and a Police Officer for the Lynchburg Police Department
injured in the line of duty in 1960 causing his early retirement. On July 15,
1954 in Lynchburg, he married Della Shaffer Wilson who survives. He is also
survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Steve Bailey of Lynchburg,
Deborah and Jim Cline of Summerton, South Carolina, brother, Willard Wilson of
Greenfield, grandchildren, Brent Wilson, Brian Wilson, Stephen Bailey and Seth
Bailey, two great granddaughters, Sidney Wilson and Michaela Gilbert and several
nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by sisters,
Bessie Carver, Althea Frost, Elsie Elliott, brothers, Claude Wilson, Keller
Wilson, Harry Wilson, Wallace Wilson and Edward Parker Wilson. Services will be
held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in
Lynchburg. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg
Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, at the
Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. The family requests memorials in his
honor to the Blanchester Care Center Patient Activity Center, 839 E. Cherry St.,
