Raymond E. West age 75 of Hillsboro died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at his home in Allensburg. He was born November 10, 1928 in Sharpsville, Ohio the son of the late Clarence Earl and Emma (Noble) West. Mr. West was a retired mail carrier and farmer and had served as Dodson Township Clerk for twenty-four years. He was a member of the Allensburg Church of Christ, the Lynchburg Lodge 178 F & A M., a 1946 graduate of Lynchburg High School and had served his country during the Korean Conflict as a T/Sgt in the U. S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Davis) West whom he had married on July 19, 1951 in Lynchburg, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Denise West of Lynchburg, Gary and Mary West of Hillsboro, six grandchildren, Jason (Tara) West of Gahanna, Matt (Amy) West of Powell, Ryan (Nicole Auvdel) West of Teays Valley, WV, Nathan (Jenna Free) West of Lynchburg, Brenton (Autumn) West of Morehead, KY, Evan West of Lynchburg, one great grandson, Triston West of Gahanna, one sister, Evelyn Davidson of Franklin, three brothers, William “Pete” West of Hillsboro, Clarence “Mutt” West of Winchester, TN, Charles “Lou” West of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Helen Hawk and one brother, Frank West. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Allensburg Church of Christ. Bob Stevens and Pete Creamer will officiate. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Barnes Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Allensburg Church of Christ. Masonic services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 1100 Northview Drive, Apt. 7C, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or to the Allensburg Church of Christ Building Fund, 7105 Abernathy Road, Lynchburg, Ohio 45142. The Davis-Turner Funeral Home is serving the family.
