Lester Welch, age 82, of Wilmington, died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.  He was born August 17, 1920 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of the late John and Minnie Harrison Welch.  His wife Bertha Nell Shaffer Welch preceded him in death on January 29, 2002.  He and his wife were the former owners and operators of the Little Giant Restaurant in Wilmington, he was also a veteran of the United States Army during W.W. II.  He is survived by one daughter Becky Perdue, of New Vienna; two granddaughters, Christy and Stacey Perdue, both of New Vienna; three brothers, Edsel (Mae) Welch of McKee, KY, Robert (Shirley) Welch of Dayton, OH, and Alvis (Lorraine) Welch of Everton, IN; and one sister Bernice Sparks of McKee, KY.  In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by seven brothers Chester, Jim, Edgar, Herman, Fred, Earl, and Lyndon; and two sisters Beatrice and Marie.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Rev. William Shaffer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dunn’s Chapel Cemetery.  The Highland County Honor Guard will provide military honors.  Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.  For more information and to sign our on-line register please visit www.turnerfuneralhomes.cc
