Clarence E. Varvel age 79 of Hillsboro died Thursday morning, July 31, 2003 at his residence. He was born July 20, 1924 near Wilmington, Ohio in Clinton County the son of the late, Homer Ira and Clara Esther (Miley) Varvel. Mr. Varvel had been a mechanic for John Deere Dealerships for forty-four years retiring from Luscheck Implement. He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, the Highland County Senior Citizens, Hillsboro Moose Lodge and the Hillsboro Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1161. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Roades) Varvel whom he had married on July 2, 1949 in New Vienna, Ohio, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Harold Caplinger of Seaman, Margaret and Dale Juillerat of New Market, a special nephew, Jerry Roades of Hillsboro and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, two sisters, Jean Stethem and Mary Irvin and two brothers, Russell Varvel and John William Varvel, preceded him in death. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Keith E. Mathews will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
