Betty Lou Varley, age 84, of Winchester, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Crestwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro.  She was born September 17, 1927 in Webertown, Ohio the daughter of the late George and Mary Larrick Trautwein.  She was a 1945 Graduate of Lynchburg High School and a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lynchburg.  She and her husband Wendell owned a farm in Buford and grain farmed for many years.  They also had a sawmill and raised hogs.  In 1972 they bought a home in Florida and retired there.  Betty enjoyed walking the beach and searching for shark teeth and shells.  She also loved flowers and raising Orchids in her own Orchid greenhouse.  Betty is survived two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Bob McClain of Wilmington, and Connie and Jim Stevens of Winchester; three grandchildren, Toy (Wayne Avedisian) Maxwell of Winchester, Keith (Molly) Stevens of Hillsboro, and Steven (Christin) McClain of Wilmington; five great grandchildren, Daiquiri (Eric) Nehus of Texas, Brian Maxwell of Winchester, Ally Avedisian of Winchester, Nathan McClain of Wilmington, and MacKinzie Stevens of Hillsboro; great great grandson Ayden Nehus of Texas; niece Kim (Steve) Weimer of Dayton; grand nephews Marshall Weimer, United States Marine Corps, and Cameron Weimer of Columbus; and sister-in-law Tippie Faris of Dayton.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Wendell Raymond Varley on September 21, 2000.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  Burial will follow in the Buford Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  For m ore information and to sign our on-line register, please visit www.turnerfuneralhomes.cc
