Ellen Herdman Travis age 85 of Hillsboro died Sunday, January 22, 2006 at the Highland District Hospital. She was born December 9, 1920 in Hillsboro, Ohio the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Cottrell) Herdman. Mrs. Travis was also preceded in death by her husband, Mason Travis in 1978 and by one brother, Albert Herdman. She is survived by two stepsons, Thomas Travis of New York, New York and Dr. Richard Travis of Los Angeles, California, one niece, Alberta Simmons of Hillsboro, two nephews, Larry and James Herdman of Lynchburg, five step grandchildren, one great niece, four great nephews and one cousin, Cheryl Brawner of Louisville, Kentucky. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial of cremains will be in the Hickman Cemetery in Hickman, Kentucky. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Humane Society, P. O. Box 471, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is in charge of cremation services.
