Lee Roy Tener age 94 of Hillsboro died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the Highland District Hospital. He was born August 17, 1910 near Belfast, Ohio the son of the late Samuel and Stella Mae (Douglas) Tener. Over the years Roy had been a Field Superintendent for the Fairmont Creamery in Columbus, Ohio, had been manager for the Ridenour Poultry Co. in Hillsboro, had been a sales representative for DeLaval Separators and he and his wife, Sally had been sales representatives for the Peebles Monument Company. Roy was an active member in Hillsboro Church of Christ serving as a Deacon, being active in the Sunday Night Club for youth, had driven the church bus for several years and received an award for Father of the Year. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Sarah “Sally” (Runyon) Tener, whom he married August 6, 1929 in Greenup, Kentucky, daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Paul Pence of Hillsboro, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Jane Tener of Hillsboro, Lewis “Jr.” Tener of Hillsboro, sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Boyer of Indianapolis, Indiana, Betty and Forest Morgan of Hillsboro, Joan Fauber of Hillsboro, sister-in-law, Blanche Tener of Hillsboro, grandchildren, Terry (Debbie Tolle) Tener of Hillsboro, Michael (Theresa) Tener of Mason, Tim (Debbie) Pence of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Steve (Gail) Pence of Hillsboro, great-grandchildren, Michael Scott Tener of Mason, Kenneth (Jennifer) Tener of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Melanie Pence, Megan Pence and Merissa Pence all of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Benjamin Stromer Pence and Leah Shay Pence both of Hillsboro, great-great grandchildren, Garrett Steven Tener and Layne Alexandra Tener both of Mason and Cameron Thomas Tener and Christopher Michael Tener both of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Martha Tener, his great grandson, Joshua Paul Pence, two sisters, Hazel Holladay, and Marie Ditmer and two brothers, Earl and Russell Tener. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. John Porter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. We were sorry to hear of Roy's passing. We consider- him and Sally as friends and wonderful Christians. They saw to it that Paul was baptisted before he left for active duty in the Army. He is with his Heavenly Father now. God Bless.
