Jack E. Stethem age 70 of Hillsboro died Monday, November 22, 2004 at the Heartland of Hillsboro. He was born February 17, 1934 in Marshall, Ohio the son of the late Seigel and Florence (Huffman) Stethem. Jack had served on the Hillsboro Police Department for twenty-eight years from 1955 until 1982, had served one term as Highland County Commissioner, served two terms as Liberty Township Trustee and was presently the township representative seated on the Highland District Hospital Board of Directors. He was a member of the Allensburg Church of Christ, Fraternal Order of Police, Highland Lodge #38 F.&A.M., Hillsboro Chapter #40 Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1161 and was a  graduate and president of the Hillsboro High School Class of 1952. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Burns) Stethem whom he had married on September 22, 2002 in Hillsboro, two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Rodney Price of Hillsboro, Angie and Brad Terrell of Hillsboro, one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Teri Stethem of Hillsboro, step daughters and son-in-law, Lynette and Mike Garen of Marshall, Connie Ray of Hillsboro, step son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jana Lucas of Lebanon, seven grandchildren, Nathan Price, Megan Price, Jacquie Stethem, Nicole Stethem, Miranda Hertenstein, Melanie Hertenstein, Matthew Hertenstein all of Hillsboro, seven step grandchildren, Justin and his wife Molly Lucas, Jonathon Lucas and Jaren Lucas all of Lebanon, Ryan Ray and Kyle Ray of Hillsboro and Heather Garen and Kelli Garen of Marshall, four great grandchildren, Scott Purdin and Noah Purdin of Hillsboro and Harlow Lucas and Zinnia Lucas of Lebanon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, A. Jean Stethem on January 11, 2001, one grandson, Stevie Hertenstein and an infant sister. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral home in Hillsboro. Masonic Services and Scottish Rite Ring Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home.
