Ruth L. Steen age 79 of Hillsboro Died Friday morning, April 5, 2002 at the Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro. She was born September 10, 1922 in Hillsboro, Ohio the daughter of the late Francis Rutherford and Elva Marie (Houck) Beets. Mrs. Steen and her husband, Larry had owned and operated Steen’s IGA in Hillsboro for many years. She was a member of the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church and the Highland County Senior Citizens. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Steen whom she had married on November 16, 1941 in Hillsboro, one sister, Lois Joan Kirk of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, William E. Beets and one sister, Patricia Lee Hixson. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Dan Lamb will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, 8080 S. R. 124, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
