Roberta Elizabeth “Bobbie” Smith, age 57 of Hillsboro, formerly of Ironwood, Michigan, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Heartland of Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 28, 1953 in Ironwood, Michigan, the daughter of Earl John and Mary Elizabeth Martin Avery. She was a member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority of Elwood, Indiana, and had been associated with Job’s Daughters of Ironwood, Michigan. But the true joy of her life was her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Daniel, to who she married September 4, 1971 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood, Michigan; mother Mary Elizabeth Avery of Hillsboro; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Coreen Smith of West Chicago, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Victor Coker of New York, New York; and two grandchildren Colin and Carter Smith. She is preceded in death by her father Earl John Avery; infant son Andrew John Smith; and brother Gary Avery. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood Michigan. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Michigan. Local visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. I wish I could put into words how sorry Sherrie and I are about Bobbie. Dan, we are blest to have known and be part of your family, it is a gift we will always treasure.
