Harold H. Shelton age 87 of Hillsboro died Friday morning July 9, 2010 at his home. He was born December 23, 1922 in Highland, Ohio the son of the late S. H. and Ruby Pearl Kellis Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a local businessman and lifelong farmer. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 361 in Hillsboro, the Syrian Shrine of Cincinnati, the Highland Lodge #38 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati. He is survived by his wife, Esther Jane Cameron Shelton whom he had married on October 8, 1943 in Greenup, Kentucky, two daughters, Joyce (Dean) Cornelius of Columbus, Carol Davis of Hillsboro, one son, Dr. Tim Shelton of Chehalis, Washington, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Lucy Cameron of Hillsboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Amanda Rotroff, Nellie Griffith, Wilma Walters, Ida Rhoads and four brothers, Cecil, Delbert, James and Chester Shelton. Services will be held 11:00 a.m.  Tuesday, July 13th at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Earl Vanscoy will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard in the Cynthiana Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Masonic services and Scottish Rite Ring Services will be at 7:45 p.m. on Monday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults, P. O. Box 258, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Harold's death. I have such fond memories of him. I remember visiting his farm as a child and Uncle Harold laughing because I was so scared of the cows. But I knew if he was with me I was safe. He was a warm, kind, and patient man. My heart felt condolences to Aunt Jane, Joyce, Carol, and Tim. I know you will miss him dearly. God Bless, Mary
