Geraldine F. “Gerry” Shannon age 86 of Cincinnati, formerly of Hillsboro, died Thursday evening, December 19, 2002 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Kenwood. She was born April 1, 1916 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of the late John Calvin and Clara Effie (Bevan) Franklin. Mrs. Shannon had been a schoolteacher for many years first teaching in Marshall and later teaching in Samantha, Lynchburg and Hillsboro Schools. She was a member of the Hillsboro Emblem Club, Towne Club, Hillsboro Eastern Star Chapter 441, a 1936 graduate of Wilmington College and a member of the Delta Omega Theta Sorority. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Shannon of Cincinnati, one granddaughter Allison Shannon Veser of Columbus and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter T. Shannon on September 30, 1985, three brothers, Clarence, Robert and Bernard Franklin and one sister, Martha Lindley. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor James Caldwell will officiate. Interment of cremains will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
