Mary E. Shanks, age 88, of Leesburg, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Highland District Hospital.  She was born July 23, 1918 in Jackson County, Ohio the daughter of the late Loren and Jessie Patrick Swan.  She was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church where she had served as custodian, she had also served as Church Treasurer until she retired in 1992 when she was honored by the church for her dedicated service.  She was also a member of the Wednesday Club of Leesburg and had worked for the Stockyard in Washington Court House.  She is survived by her son and daughter–in-law Charles “Curt” and Sandy Shanks of Leesburg; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Eric Shanks and Allison Crawford of Kettering; and her brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Imogene Swan of Jackson, Ohio.  In addition to her parents she is preceded by her husband Charles Lewis Shanks in 1977; and a brother Edward Otho Swan.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Turner Funeral Home, Leesburg.  Pastor John Fitzgerald will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg.  Visitation will be held Friday February 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  For more information and to sign our on-line register please visit www.turnerfuneralhomes.cc
