Ruth J. Shanks age 72 of Hillsboro died Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at the Laurels of Hillsboro. She was born July 7, 1932 in Xenia, Ohio the daughter of the late William and Mary Catherine (Welch) Shanks. Miss Shanks had worked for the Hercules Trouser Company in Hillsboro for thirty-two years and had attended the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Janice Shanks of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Florence Butts, Sara Elsie Shanks, Margaret Coates, Lexia Shanks, Dorothy Shanks and Bertha Shanks and seven brothers, Lester, Russell, Floyd, Robert, Richard, Ralph and Harold Shanks. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Brother Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Xenia.
