George Raymond Runyon age 85, of Hillsboro died Friday, December 19, 2003 at the Highland District Hospital. He was born November 14, 1918 in Hillsboro the son of the late George A. and Bessie Haines Runyon. He was retired from the heating and air conditioning business. Mr. Runyon was a W.W.II Veteran, a member of the F.O.E. # 1161 including being a Past Worthy President. On January 26, 1946 he married Hazel Thompson Runyon who preceded him in death June 7, 2003. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Hilda Lewis of Centerville, Mary and Howard Burnett of Jeffersonville, sisters and brother-in-law, Sally and Roy Tener, Betty Hanenkrat, and Margene “Bea” Castle all of Hillsboro, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren with special granddaughter Connie Weidner of Centerville. Along with his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Walker and Frances Houk and two brothers, Robert and Charles “Pee Wee” Runyon. Services will be held 11:00 A.M Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro with visitation one hour prior to the service. F.O.E. Services will take place 10:45 AM Monday. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township cemetery with military honors provided by the Highland County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W.
