Helen L. Quallen age 78 of Blanchester, Ohio died Friday afternoon, July 11, 2003 at the Continental Manor in Blanchester. She was born October 25, 1924 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen M. (Meyer) Martz. Mrs. Quallen had been a schoolteacher in St. Martin, Fayetteville, Mt. Orab and Hamersville schools. She was a 1942 graduate of Holy Angel High School in Sidney and a 1946 graduate of the College of Mt. St. Joseph. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Dorena Quallen of Wilmington, daughters and son-in-law, Amy and George Brown of Cardington, Kathie Martin of Arizona and Annette Quallen of Cincinnati, six grandchildren, Angela and Brad Woodruff of Lees Creek, Amanda Quallen of Wilmington, Nicole Brown of Columbus, Heather Martin of Florida, Hugh Martin Jr. of Arizona and Sgt. Brandy Martin of Washington D.C. and also by five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E. Quallen on January 27, 1986 and by six brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Ron Cooper at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, in the St. Angela Merici Parish, St. Martin Chapel, St. Martin, Ohio. Burial will follow in the St. Martin Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with prayer services at 5:30 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
