Donald W. Pierce age 69 of Hillsboro died Wednesday afternoon, August 2, 2006 at his residence. He was born August 25, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Donald W. and Helen (Eisley) Pierce. Mr. Pierce had been a building engineer on the Riverfront Stadium Project in Cincinnati and was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Cincinnati and attended the Harriett Missionary Church. He is survived by his wife, Mattie (Siler) Pierce whom he had married on February 10, 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio, two daughters, Martha H. Tedford and Kelly C. Pierce of Hillsboro, three sons, Donald W. Pierce Jr. of Ruffin, North Carolina, John A. Pierce and Kevin M. Pierce of Cincinnati, eight grandchildren, Petty Officer Amanda E. Tedford stationed with the U.S. Navy in Charleston, South Carolina, Jeffrey E. Tedford of Hillsboro, Katie R. Tedford of Hillsboro, Christopher L. Pierce of Indiana, Steven D. Pierce of Indiana, Alexis Pierce of North Carolina, Daniel A. Pierce of Hillsboro and Christine I. Pierce of Hillsboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Pierce and on infant sister. Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor James Sollars will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:000 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
