
Phyllis Jane Penn age 66 of the Latham Community died Tuesday evening, March 16, 2004 at the Pike County Hospital in Waverly. She was born June 22, 1937 near Idaho, Ohio the daughter of the late Joseph David & Jessie Romaine Moore. Mrs. Penn attended Locust Grove, Sinking Spring and Western Local High School graduating in May of 1955. She had been a teacher for the Headstart Program in Pike County. She is survived by her husband, Ronald A. Penn to whom she was married on July 23, 1955 in Greenfield, Ohio, daughters and sons-in-law, Ronda and Rev. Darrell Myers, Jr. of Peebles, Paula Lightle of Chillicothe, Julia “Dude” and Larry Satterfield, of Latham, sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Sis Penn of Latham, Tim and Jenny Penn of Hillsboro and Darren and Melissa Penn of Greenfield, one sister, Maxine Cox of Greenfield, a sister-in-law, Betty Moore of Columbus and a brother-in-law, Luther May of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, 17 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Paul, and John Moore, two sisters, Gladys May and Lavina Howland and five infant siblings Glenn, Donald, David Jay, Julie and Georgie Moore. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m Saturday at the Mt. Zion Christian Union Church in Poplar Grove with the Rev. Carey Hilterbran officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Christian Union Church in Poplar Grove. The Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro is serving the family.
