
Mae
Jane Pence age 93 of Hillsboro died Saturday evening September 18, 2004 at
the Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro. She was born December 5, 1910 in
Hillsboro the daughter of the late Richard O. and Anna Elizabeth (Galbaugh)
Davies. Mrs. Pence had worked for the Bowles Bookstore for many years. She was a
lifelong member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and had taught
Sunday school for over seventy years. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High
School, had been a volunteer for the Highland District Hospital for over forty
years and was a member of numerous other church and civic organizations. She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul W. and Teresa Pence Jr. of
Hillsboro, three grandchildren, Peter, Meredith and Morgan Pence of Hillsboro,
three step-grandchildren, Brad and Crystal Wildey of Hillsboro, Sarah and
Anthony Harless of Hillsboro, Megan and J. D. Wagoner of Hillsboro, two
step-great grandchildren, Christian and Braden Wildey of Hillsboro, one sister,
Mildred Lemon of Hillsboro, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace and Russel
Catlin of Mason, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Pence Sr. on April 6,
2000, five brothers, Walter, Robert, Oakley, Albert and Richard Davies and two
sisters, Ruth Wilkin and Anna Lisciandro. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Thursday, September 23, at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. Pastor
Chuck Shonkwiler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Hiestand Hall of
the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made
to the Church Camp Fund of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, 133 East
