Ruth I. Pausch age 94 of Leesburg died Monday evening, March 7, 2005 at her residence. She was born May 20, 1910 in New Petersburg, Ohio the daughter of the late Richard and Ruth A. Shivers Winegar. Mrs. Pausch had been an educator for forty years, first as an elementary teacher in Martinsville for sixteen years and as principal for eight years and then as a Wilmington Junior High School math teacher for fourteen years retiring in 1980. She had also taught at Southern State Community College South Campus from 1980 until 1982. She was a 1927 graduate of Leesburg High School, a 1955 graduate of Wilmington College and received her Master of Arts from The Ohio State University in 1961. She was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Highland County MRDD, served on the Highland County Democratic Committee, Central Committee and Executive Board and the State Democratic Committee and a court investigator for Judge Darrell Hottle for fifteen years. She was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church, the Wednesday Club, Leesburg Altruistic Association, Charter member of the WSCS, Charter member of the Leesburg Business and Professional Women’s Association, Hillsboro Emblem Club and had served Highland County as a Home Service Worker for the American Red Cross During World War II and the Korean War. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lenora Pausch of Leesburg, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren four nieces and one nephew. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Pausch on July 24, 1982 and by one son Henry Pausch II. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Leesburg United Methodist Church. Pastor Max Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Leesburg United Methodist Church. My deepest sympathies and condolensces are extended to Jerry, Lenora, Natalie, Fred and the Pausch fmily and friends on the passing of your Mom. I never really got to know Mrs. Ruth Pausch. However after reading her obituary, your Mom was truly a dedicated and professiona lady which is greatly reflected in her children and grandchildren.
