George Washington Owens Jr. age 84 of Lynchburg, Ohio died Monday, December 12 at the highland District Hospital. He was born March 31, 1927 in Olive Hill, Kentucky the son of the late George Washington Owens Sr. and Florence Stallard Owens. Mr. Owens had worked for many years at DELCO Marine, General Motors in Dayton, Ohio and also was involved in farming.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 9094. He is survived by five nieces, Kay Gray of Lynchburg, Sarah Watson of Hillsboro, Connie Howell of Dayton, Pat Smoot of Vandalia, Ithel Brown of Louisville, six nephews, Jack Owens M.D. of Louisville, Kentucky, Harold Owens M.D. of Irvington, Kentucky, Herbert Owens of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James Shaffer of Grayson, Kentucky, William E. Shaffer of Grayson, Kentucky and Norman Shaffer of Grayson, Kentucky, one sister, Delores Shaffer of Grayson, Kentucky and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17th at the Bethel Chapel Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Saturday at the Church. The Globe Funeral Home is serving the family. Burial will follow in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery.
