Donna
Kaye Oppy,
age 52, of
Hillsboro, died Wednesday morning, October 20, 2010 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio
Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman. She was born September 29, 1958, in
Wilmington, a daughter of the late Wilbur Thomas and Thelma L. (Gilpin) Covert.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and thoroughly
enjoyed playing bingo. On September 12, 1977, in Leesburg, she married her
husband of thirty-three years, Denver F. Oppy, Jr., and he survives. She is
also survived by a son, Denver Thomas “Bub” (Leslie A. Brown) Oppy of Hillsboro;
a daughter, Dona Louise “Sis” Oppy of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Jada
Louise Smith, Gregory Mack Grooms, Jr., and Jaelyn Kayeann Grooms; two sisters,
Nellie Wilson and her husband Will of Highland; Helen L. Bennett of Highland; a
brother, David L. Covert of Highland, three special nephews, Spike (Vanessa
Stanforth, Cheyanne “Red”, Nick and Shana) Wilson, Bobby Wilson and Joey Wilson,
all of Highland; as well as additional nieces and nephews and special family
members Patrick and Lisa Brown, Derrick Brown and Johnny Brown, all of
Greenfield. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at the
Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Jerry Fyffe will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00
a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania
Plaza, Suite 1400, New York, New York 10122.
