Maryirene K. Newsted, age 71, of Hillsboro, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at the Highland County District Hospital. She was born December 16, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Martin V. and Hazel Forrest Bennett. She is survived by a daughter Diane and her husband Harold Smalley of Hillsboro; a son Kenneth Michael Starkey of Hillsboro; four grandchildren Bryan and his wife Jennifer Krannitz of Hillsboro, Suzanne and her husband Matthew Runk of Sabina, Airman John Michael Krannitz of Italy and Kevin Krannitz and his fiancé Brooke Walker of Hillsboro; two sisters Kathryn and her husband Melvin Smith of Alabama and Rosemarie and her husband Thomas Piette of Arizona; and two great grandchildren Lillian and Jacob Krannitz. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers Dulany, Martin and Raymond Bennett. Funeral services are being held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults, 930 N. West Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
