Franklin Lee Newman age 61 of Hillsboro died Thursday, June 13, 2002 at his residence. He was born August 22, 1940 in Hillsboro, Ohio the son of the late John W. and Edith (Fraysier) Newman. Mr. Newman had worked for the Hillsboro City Schools as a custodian for nineteen years, was presently working with the Green Thumb project for the City of Hillsboro and had served the City of Hillsboro as a Police Officer. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. He is survived by his loving ex-wife, Barbara Newman of Hillsboro, two daughters, Lori Newman and Crystal Schmitz of Hillsboro, one step-daughter, Donna Everhart of Hillsboro, one step-son, Jeff Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, one special son, Greg Willey of Hillsboro, eight grandchildren, Amie Griffith, Zachary Schmitz, Hunter Newman, Terry Everhart, Celeena Bowen, Aija and Bryan Taylor all of Hillsboro and Cheyenne Smith of Louisville, Kentucky and a special friend, Sherman Nicholes. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Brother Wiley B. Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
