Ernest William Morris, age 80 of Hillsboro, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1923 in Waverly, Ohio, the son of the late Verna T. and Emma (Cox) Morris. He was a 1943 graduate of Bainbridge High School. Mr. Morris was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II being involved in the battles at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He had received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. On July 3, 1947, he married Evalene Short Morris, who survives. He is also survived by a son, James (Rhonda) Morris, of Lake Jackson, Texas, a daughter, Kim (Ray) Hedgcorth, of Beavercreek, Ohio, sisters Hazel (Rocco) Frangiosi of Orrville, Ohio, Geneva (James) Bobb and Thelma (Dave) Cook of Hillsboro, Jeannie Showers of Missouri, Ruth (Willie) Burdell of Arizona, three grandchildren, Gregory (Christy) Hedgcorth of Watertown, New York, Joseph Hedgcorth of Beavercreek, Ohio, Brianna Morris of Springfield, Ohio and one great granddaughter, Ashleigh Hedgcorth. In addition to his parents, a brother, Lloyd Morris, preceded him in death. Services for Mr. Morris will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday February 12, 2004 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Harold Braley will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow at the Cynthiana Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
