Gordon L. Merritt age 71 of Fayetteville, Ohio died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the St. Luke West Hospital in Florence, Kentucky. He was born October 12, 1934 in Norwood, Ohio the son of the late William L. and Julia (Jones) Merritt. Mr. Merritt had retired from the General Motors Corporation in Dayton with over twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of the Lynchburg Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Sara (King) Merritt whom he married on September 7, 1958 in Hillsboro, Ohio, one son, Alan Merritt of Fayetteville, one granddaughter, Destiney Marie Goerler of Fayetteville, one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Kay and Bill Jones of Lynchburg, two nephews, Gary Jones of Lynchburg, Brad (Jane) Jones of Mt. Orab, one niece, Regina (Josh) Endsley of Delhi, three grand nieces, Elizabeth Jones and Julia and Caroline Endsley and two grand nephews, Ethan Jones and Alex Endsley. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Larry Herdman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Strange Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Was is shock of Gordon's death. My brother Tom sent us the obits. We are so sorry to hear. You all have our deepest sympathy. John worked with Gordon for years at General Motors. He was also a neighboring friend.
