Caroline R. Mercer age 85 of Lynchburg died Saturday morning, September 24, 2005 at the Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery. She was born August 26, 1920 in Russell Station, Ohio the daughter of the late Benjamin A. “Jake” and Stella C. (Culhane) Roush. Caroline had been an employee of the Wright Patterson Air Force Base and was a member of the Russell United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Lynchburg Chapter of the Order Of Eastern Star. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Jane and John Fred Grooms of Hillsboro, a son and daughter-in-law Britton A. “Bud” and Kathleen Mercer of Lynchburg, three grandchildren, Shelley Grooms of New Vienna, Scott (Julie) Grooms of Hillsboro, Cynthia (Timothy) Jones of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, nine great grandchildren and several cousins. Her husband Britton W. Mercer preceded her in death on September 22, 2005. Services will be held Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Larry Herdman will officiate. Burial will follow on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Dunn’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until time of services at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
