Benton W. Medary,
age 86, of Lynchburg, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at
the Laurels of Hillsboro. He was
born January 12, 1920, in Williamsburg, the son of the late George Philip and
Mary Elizabeth (Beir) Medary. He
was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, and survived the sinking
of the aircraft carrier USS Wasp on September 16, 1942. He was a pipefitter and was a member of the Local Union #392
for fifty-nine years. On October
31, 1942, in Oakley, he married his wife of sixty-four years, Bernita (Case)
Medary, who survives. He is also
survived by a son, Robert Lee Medary of Hillsboro, a daughter, Bernita J.
Woodard of Lynchburg, four grandchildren, Robert William (Holly) Medary of
Lebanon, Jennifer R. (John) Ruth of Columbus, Janelle M. McComas of Allenhurst,
Georgia, Sarah F. (Brian) Denman of Noonan, Georgia, eleven great grandchildren,
Alicia R. McLaughlin, Danielle Medary, Britiny M. McComas, Justin Medary,
William A. McComas, Ronnie D. McComas II, Daniel S. McComas, Ashley Ingmire,
Raleigh Ingmire, Drake H. Ingmire, Victoria H. Denman, two sisters-in-law
Georgia Medary of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Sylvia Case and family of Cincinnati, a
brother-in-law Richard (Audrey) Case and family of Stockbridge, Georgia, two
nephews Philip Medary of Columbus, Ralph Medary of Circleville, a niece Betty
Medary, a great-niece
Tammy Medary, extended family and friends Stephen B. Woodard, Ronnie D. McComas
Sr., Jonnie Bussle, Jeff McClure, Taylor McComas, Daniel Bussle, Kayla Ruth,
Summary Medary, Dale E. Hopkins and Kenny Price. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by four brothers. Services
for Mr. Medary will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Davis-Turner Funeral
Home in Lynchburg. Rev. Harold
Braley will officiate. Burial will
follow in the Williamsburg Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by
the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team. Friends
may call from 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Monday at the
Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
