William
E. McCune age 90 of the Otterbein
Retirement Community in Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Hillsboro, died Thursday, May
20, 2004 at the Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon. He was born March 14,
1914 in New Vienna, Ohio the son of the late, Loren and Abbie (Michael) McCune.
Mr. McCune had retired with over thirty years of service as the manager of the
Dave Chaney Goodyear Tire Company in Hillsboro. He was a member of the Lebanon
United Methodist Church, Otterbein Chapel, a 1932 graduate of the New Vienna
High School, a former member of the Grange, a Life Member of the Hillsboro Lions
Club and an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Clara (Ison)
McCune whom he had married on April 14, 1935 in New Market, Ohio. Also surviving
are two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Tom Roush of Dayton, Frances and
Robert McComas of Union, Ohio, one son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna
McCune of Carbondale, Illinois, three grandchildren, Jill and Lt. Col. Anthony
Strines, Terri and Monte Williams, Traci and Duane Mackey, two step
grandchildren, Charles McComas, Lisa and Michael Chesler, six great
grandchildren Aaron, Reid, Damon, Devin, Abigail and Clara and six step
great grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, Lynn, Tasha, Madalane and Calvin. In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Leigh Ann McCune,
great granddaughter, Rebecca Mackey, one sister, Inez Johnson and four brothers,
Edgar, John, Paul and Robert McCune. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at
the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. James Ludwick will
officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on
Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in
