Alta Christensen Lyon, age 80, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Heartland of Hillsboro. She was born February 25, 1923 in Walnut, Nebraska the daughter of the late Bennett and Mary Block Christensen. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Rainsboro. She is survived by two foster sons Nedwin Lyon and Forrest Smalley, both of Hillsboro; one foster daughter Susan Fennell of Hillsboro; three brothers, L.H. (Phyllis) Christensen of Martin, South Dakota, Bennett (Jeanette) Christensen, Jr. of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Leland (Mary) Christensen of Nashport, Ohio; and one sister Lauretta ((Matt) Risse of Alliance, Nebraska. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband George Arnold Lyon on August 23, 1980; two sisters, Geraldine Ireland and Bernice Brower; and one brother Elmer Christensen. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Monday, May 19, 2003 at the Turner& Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, Hillsboro. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.
