Marie
A. Knott,
age 84, of
Hillsboro died Friday January 26, 2007 at her residence. She was born
November 24, 1922 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of Tobias Washington
and Nannie Victoria Elliott Martin. Mrs. Knott had been an administrator for the
Farmer’s Home Administration and was also widely known as the lady weather
observer reporting the daily weather for the U. S. Weather Observatory on both
local radio stations WVNU and WSRW, a position that Mrs. Knott had assumed
following the death of her husband, Thomas Lee Knott on April 4, 1988. Mrs.
Knott was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
co-founder of the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society and a member of the
Highland County Historical Society (Hall of Fame Member) and the Daughters of
the American Revolution. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Vivian Brown of
Greensboro, North Carolina; two nieces, Anna E. Carroll of Ellington,
Connecticut and Nancy Coe Hall of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; two nephews, Perrin
Babcock and Donald Babcock of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister-in-law,
Dorothy Helton of Mt. Orab; special "children," Rick Staub, Angie Miller and
Beth Molodetz-Schlueter; and special "grandchildren," Audra Knisley, Joseph
Schlueter and Christina Schlueter. In addition to her husband and parents, she
was preceded in death by one son, Duane Martin Knott in 1953, one daughter, Leah
Carleen Knott in 1955, and two sisters, Dorothy Elizabeth Martin and Ruth
Victoria Teeter. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at
the Adams Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1185
Grace’s Run Road, Winchester, Ohio. Elder Rick Staub will officiate. Burial
will follow in the Ash Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00
a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial
