
Wayne Watson “Red” Knauff age 82 of Hillsboro died Wednesday evening, September 21, 2005 at his residence. He was born October 24, 1923 in Manchester, Ohio the son of the late Harvey Oral and Lulu Pearl (Bilyeu) Knauff. Mr. Knauff had worked for several years for the Moore Drop Forge Company in Hillsboro and had retired from the Moon Tractor Company as a small engine mechanic. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army Air Force, was an avid bowler and was a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens. He is survived his wife, Jeannette (Fenner) Knauff whom he had married on November 11, 1949 in Hillsboro. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Alma Jean Knauff of Hillsboro, Carmen Crouse of Pataskala, Ohio, Dorothy Jane Luman of Hillsboro, Mary Armstrong of Hillsboro, Betty Newman of Marshall, brothers-in-law, Loyd “Bud” Fenner of New Vienna, Ray H. Fenner, Hugh Fenner and Fred Fenner all of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Sibrel Grugen and Ruth Bowman and one brother, Forrest Knauff. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26th at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
