John Elton King age 87 of Lynchburg, Ohio died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at his residence. He was born December 25, 1915 near Lynchburg, Ohio the son of the late Byron and Lizzie Mae (Pence) King. Mr. King was a retired truck driver. He is survived by four daughter and sons-in-law, Sara and Gordon Merritt of Fayetteville, Mary and Ted Jones of Allensburg, Shirley and John Lewis of Lynchburg, Koni and David Griffith of Lynchburg, one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James and Karen King of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mary King of Hillsboro, one sister, Mary Louise Long of Hillsboro, fourteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma E. (Hottinger) King on April 28, 1990, one sister, Thelma Davis and one great great grandson, Blake Lewis. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow in the Strange Cemetery near Fairview. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
