Ruth E. Kearns age 87 of Hillsboro died Monday afternoon, June 19, 2006 at her residence. She was born August 11, 1918 in Portsmouth, Ohio the daughter of the late John W. and Edith O. (Welton) Knapp. Mrs. Kearns had been a tax accountant for the Kissell Mortgage Company in Springfield retiring in 1970. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Waneta A. and Roland Kelly of San Bernardino, CA., Mary L. Standley of Hillsboro, Phyllis J. and Jay F. Brewer of Crossville, TN., Carol Sue and Larry D. Bilbrey of Crossville, TN., Lysbeth Ann Curry of Logan, Ohio, Sherrie L. and Tim Rogers of Crossville, TN., sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Linda Kearns of Riverview, FL., David A. and Katie Kearns of AL., twenty-six grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Homer Edward Rice of Hillsboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie D. Kearns in 1946, three sisters, Dorothy Rice, Marie Eckard, Gladys Knapp, one grandson and two great grandchildren. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Chaplain Dale Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Brown’s Chapel Cemetery near Clarksburg.
