Gertrude Jackson, age 75, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was born March 21, 1930, in Clay City, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Willie and Lillie (Trent) Pelfrey. She was a homemaker and was deeply devoted to her family, and was an avid gardener. She is survived by four daughters, Diana Sue (Fred) Gool of Sabina, Linda Gaile Hill of Hillsboro, Sharon Kay Smith of Hillsboro, Marsha Lynn (Eldon “Bud”) Shoemaker II of Hillsboro, one brother, Harold Pelfrey of Frankfort, Kentucky, four sisters, Ethel Washabough of Stanton, Kentucky, Hazel Prather of Lexington, Kentucky, Anna William, of Clay City, Kentucky, Norma Jean Dunn of Frankfort, Kentucky, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Jackson, on August 26, 1997, four sisters, Nellie Mains, Ellie Adams, Eunice White, Cora Mae Wallace, and two brothers, Clarence and John Pelfrey. Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson are 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Hillsboro Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Burns will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
