Mary Frances Hughes age 81 of Greenwood Mississippi, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at her residence. She was born March 31, 1922 in Rome City, Indiana, the daughter of the late Walter and Frances (Lattimer) Schultz. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and former owner and landscaper of Hughes Nursery. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Greenwood Mississippi. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Patsy Hughes of Libertyville, Illinois, two granddaughters, Mami Tapp of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Claire Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona, brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Donna Carkenord of Peoria, Illinois, Joseph and Joann Carkenord of Farmville, Virginia, Rev. David Carkenord of Waterloo, Indiana, sisters-in-law, Janet Sitterle of Greenfield, Margaret Hughes of Sun City, Arizona and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years, James Ferris Hughes on June 10, 1987 and step-father, Reuben Carkenord. Graveside services for the family only will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Hillsboro Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
