Harold H. Hottle age 83 of Hillsboro died Monday, August 12, 2002 at his residence. He was born September 13, 1918 in New Market Township (Highland County), Ohio the son of the late George Emmitt and Alice R. (Bishop) Hottle. Mr. Hottle had retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1980 with forty years of service. He had served as the Hillsboro Postmaster from 1967 through 1973. He was a U. S. Marine Veteran serving as a pilot during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and had the distinction of being one of the first Marines to fly the B-25 Aircraft. He is a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, was a former member of the Hillsboro Rotary Club, Charter member of the Hillsboro Lions Club, member of Highland Lodge #38 F. & A. M., member of the Highland Grand Council Royal Arch Masons #17, Highland Commandery #31, Highland Chapter #40 Royal & Select Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, the Highland County Scottish Rite Club and the Farm Bureau. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Barbara Hottle of Hillsboro; daughters and son-in-law, Lynne Hottle of Wellington, Ohio, Carol A. Hottle of Seattle, Washington, Emiley and John Games of Marion, Ohio, six grandchildren, Laura Brooker, Allison Gabbard, Susanna Hottle, Michael Hottle, Daniel Hottle, Lori Lundquist; sister-in-law, Catherine Carpenter Hottle of Lebanon; niece, Kay and Danny Thomas of Rainsboro and nephew, Larry and Vee Hottle of Granville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna (Jordan) Hottle on September 24, 1997 and by his twin brother, Judge Darrell Hottle on May 4, 1989. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Caldwell will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by the Highland County Honor Guard and the U. S. Marine Corps Honor Guard, will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Masonic Services and Scottish Rite Ring Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The body will lie-in-state on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.
