Janet & The Hertlein Families, I am so sorry to hear of Flash's passing. It's been a few years sense I spoke with him, but he was the same ole Flash. He had a twinkle in his eye, a big grin on his face, and a joke to tell. I know he will be missed very much by all. He's now at rest and can watch over the rest of the family. God Bless.

My whole heart goes out to the entire family. We are so sorry and we definately feel your loss and we will miss Flash dearly. He was LOVED by everybody and was Dennis's best friend in the whole world. It's hard to imagine not ever getting to see him again....doing the "Flash" dance and all of the other wonderful memories that we have of him. After losing my mother and my sister just 5 days apart, I understand the numbing pain that you are all feeling right now, and my prayers are with you. If there is anything that I can do to help ease that, please don't hesitate to call me.
Love and Prayers, Chris Yankey

We were saddened to learn of Flash's sudden and unexpected death. He was a year behind me in school and his sister Nancy was a couple of years ahead of me. Nancy & I sang in choir together. I have known Dave's wife Nancy for a long time and have fond memories of watching "Bobby's little sister" grow up. Flash was always fun loving and had a great sense of humor as I remember him. We want to express our condolences to all of the family and our heartfelt sympathy at Flash's far too soon passing.
Sincerely, Nancy & Colby King

I was planning to drop by visitation Sunday, but I seem to have a case of the flu or something close to it. I was extremely shocked and saddened when my daughter called to tell me the news of Flash's passing. He was one of my favorite people among everyone I've ever known. Like all his friends, I have so many great memories of Flash, and it's funny how often I have thought about him even when I haven't seen him for three or four years at a time. He left a big impression on everyone who ever knew him. It's hard to believe he's gone. There was no one quite like him. But he made the world a brighter place. He will be missed. My sincere condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Dad has enjoyed many a cup of coffee at "Flash's" and my sister and I know if he could send his wishes to the family, he would do so. Perhaps Dad will be able to walk back in and have lunch and a cup of coffee with all there one day.

Hertlein Family: I really don't know how to more personally address this because so many of you have meant so much to one or all of my family. No one in the family knew until it was too late to do a thing about it, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I don't get to Lynchburg very often, but it definitely won't be the same place without him. God bless all of you, Shelly Kingsolver

Wow....I just found out on december 8th. Flash and I were childhood friends and used to ride the ponies down Townsend Rd, paint david's back when we were painting the barn, and who knows what else. We grew up together from 1st grade through 12th. I always thaought I would get back to see him and say hello. He was very generous with those of us who had less. Can't say how many times he bought me a sandwich or pepsi at Gid's cafe or McDaniels market over the years. He will be missed. Nancy, David, Janet and Alan---I wish you all the best. He was a personality that added much to our little town through our youth! God bless, Mark
