Nellie Irene Hammond age 92 of Hillsboro died Friday morning, December 27, 2002 at the Heartland of Hillsboro. She was born December 1, 1910 in Lavalette, West Virginia the daughter of the late Charles Alphus and Maud (Dick) Morrison. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and the Highland County Senior Citizens. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Larry Holladay of Hillsboro, one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gloria West of Hillsboro, one sister, Lois Morrison of Cleveland, three grandchildren, Jeffery Lee West, Jill and Scott Hakes, David B. and Peggy West, four step grandchildren Karla Walter, Shelley and Grant Baker, Gregg and Kay Jones and Deanna Jones, seven great grandchildren, Amanda West, Tonya West, Aaron West, Evan West, Austin West, Matthew Hakes and Daniel Hakes and six step great grandchildren, Alesha Walter, Kody Walter, Chelby Roades, Karyssa Creager, Carsyn Creager and Lucas Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Hammond on June 5, 1999, one grandson, Rodney Holladay, six brothers, Howard, Claude, James, Alphus, Norman and Luther Morrison. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. John Porter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
