Chester L. Hammell, Jr., age 63, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his residence.  He was born October 16, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Chester L. and Marion L. Schnelle Hammell, Sr.  In 1982 he opened and was still operating Hammell’s Tax and Accounting in Hillsboro, he was formerly associated with Merchants National  Bank serving as Vice President, he was a member of Highland Lodge #38 Free and Accepted Masons; and member and Past President of Hillsboro Rotary.  He is survived by his mother Marion Hammell of Lynchburg; and three brothers, Steven L. Hammell of Mason, Daniel E. Hammell of Lynchburg, and Geoffrey J. Hammell of Lynchburg.  He is preceded in death by his father Chester L. Hammell, Sr.  Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro.  Leo Kuhn will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery near Pricetown.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro.  Memorial donations may be made to the Highland County Humane Society, P.O. Dear Hammell Family; So sorry to read of the passing of Chester.It has been a while since I took him to the Merchants bank for an interview but he was quickly employed and served Uncle Newt Winkle well according to Newt. I have known Chester for many years. I worked with him at Merchants Bank for a short time and he has done our taxes for many years. He was always friendly and willing to help you with any problem you shared with him. He will be greatly missed. It was a privelege to know him. We extend our sympathy to his family.
