David E. Hamm, age 76, of Midland, died Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Hospital.  He was born February 18, 1928, in Cranston, Kentucky, the son of the late Belford P. and Bertha B. (Withrow) Hamm.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force; retired from a self-employed logging business; former minister of the Midland Apostolic Church; and was active in evangelism.  He was involved in a radio program through the Word of Life Church in Cincinnati, and enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and trapping. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Carver Hamm to whom he married January 30, 1951 in Canova, West Virginia; children, Jimmy (Judy) Hamm of Midland, Bonny (Ed Slone) Collett of Batavia, Rose (Gordon) Coffey of Milford, Joseph Hamm of Midland and Paul Hamm of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Richard (Angela) Collett, Aaron (Shelby) Collett, Michael (Joni) Collett, Crystal (Josh) Pierce, Nichole (Andrew) Jackson, Jimmy Hamm Jr., and Christina Hamm; 15 great grandchildren; sister Genetta (Marlen) Shupert of Maysville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one son Charles Hamm; and all but one of his siblings.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  Brother Lola Gray will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Westboro Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  For more information and to sign our on-line register please visit www.turnerfuneralhomes.cc
