Millard I. Gibson Sr. age 83 of Hillsboro, Ohio died Tuesday morning, September 9, 2003 at his home. He was born August 22, 1920 in Drydun, Virginia the son of the late Faith and Myrtle (Bowen) Gibson. Mr. Gibson had been a coalminer for twenty-three years and had worked at General Electric in Evendale for twenty-two years. He was a member of the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Laura Viola (Dean) Gibson whom he had married on March 21, 1936 in Drydun, Virginia; five sons, William Gibson and his wife Mae of Hillsboro, Packy Gibson and his wife Shirley of Hillsboro, Robert “Buster” Gibson and his wife Sharon of Mason, Ohio, Dexter Gibson and his wife Joann of West Union, Chester Gibson of Lynchburg; three daughters, Betty Phillips of Hillsboro, Elizabeth Hall of Hillsboro, Ada Davis of Beaver, Ohio, two brothers, Silas Gibson of Appalachia, Virginia, Carter Gibson of Pennington Gap, Virginia, one sister, Rosella Young of Baltimore, Maryland and one hundred grand, great grand and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by four sisters, Mavis Bowen, Mary Coomer, Maice Parson and May Vaughn and four grandsons, Dennis Gibson, Dale Gibson, Dennis Willey and Millard Jim Phillips. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church, 7741 S. R. 350, New Vienna, Ohio. Pastor Keith Perkins of the Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church and Pastor Wiley B. Perkins of The Samantha Freewill Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church in New Vienna.
