Bessie “Granny” Garrett age 95 of Blanchester died Monday, July 19, 2004 at her residence. She was born May 30, 1909 in Granger County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Thomas and Fannie Hampton Carter. She worked in the Textile business for 34 years before retiring. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Donald Straight of Blanchester, grandchildren, Lisa Doyle, Tracy Roseberry, J.R. (Karen) Roseberry and Brian Straight all of Blanchester, great grandchildren Amy Law, Joshua Reynolds, Ashley and Candy Clifton, Brandon and Kristina Fields, Justin and Austin Roseberry, great-great grandchildren, Timothy Law and Kelsey Knisley, a sister , Ella Hodge of Morristown, TN., and several nieces and nephews in Thorn Hill, TN., Morristown, TN., and Gastonia, N.C. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Moore in 1959 and her second husband Leonard Garrett in 1974, sisters, Ethel Gordon, Frances Blanton, Elizabeth Carpenter, brothers, Milburn Carter, Jess Carter, Frank Carter, and Neal Carter. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Rev. Harold Braley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Martinsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
