
Geraldine Ford, age 82, of Wilmington, formerly of Hillsboro, went to be with the Lord at 6:22 a.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006 at her daughters house in Wilmington. She was born December 31, 1923, in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of the late Edward and Faye (Gash) Joiner. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Hillsboro and the Bible Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington. She was a wonderful mother and enjoyed being a good wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Don Darling of Dayton, Loretta and Wayne Hamilton of Wilmington, Catherine and Jackie Robinson of Wilmington and Barbara and Carlton Greene of Hillsboro; one sister-in-law, Josephine Watkins of Xenia; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband LaJean Ford; two sons, LaJean, Ford, Jr., and Robert Ford; and one daughter Laurie Marie Ford. Funeral services for Mrs. Ford will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday August 3, 2006 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Pastor Michael Hudson and Dr. Kurtis L. Summerville will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
