Delma Desire Dwyer Fairley, age 95, of Leesburg, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Hearth and Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Greenfield.  She was born August 23, 1915, near Greenfield, the daughter of the late Horace Earl and Alta Pamell Smith Dwyer.  She was a 1933 Graduate of Greenfield McClain High School where she especially enjoyed participating in theater productions.  She graduated magna cum laude from Wilmington College in 1940, then taught third grade for five years in the Clarksburg and Greenfield Schools.  On June 14, 1941, she married C. Vincent Fairley and became a farmwife, enjoying reading, sewing, crocheting, traveling, oil painting and play productions.  She was well known for her poetry writing for which she received much recognition.  As a member of the Leesburg Friends Church she was active on various leadership committees and taught Sunday school.  She served on the Fairfield Board of Education for five years and showed tireless efforts as a member of the Highland County Library Board of Directors for over 40 years from 1964 to 2004.  In 2008 she was inducted into the Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame.  She is survived by her son Michael (Darlene) Fairley of Seattle, Washington; daughter Alice Teeters of Leesburg; four grandchildren, Nathan (Lani) Teeters of Hillsboro, Travis (Haley) Teeters of Leesburg, Melissa (Tony) Alfano of Lancaster, and Andrew Fairley of Bothell, Washington; great grandchildren, Paige Teeters, Reese Teeters, Avery Teeters, Landry Teeters, and step great granddaughter Evelyn Alfano.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, C. Vincent Fairley; infant brother Horace Smith Dwyer; infant twin brother Hugh Wilshire Dwyer; and an infant granddaughter.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Leesburg Friends Church.  Pastor John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Leesburg Friends Church.  Memorial donations may be made to Leesburg Friends Church, P.O. Box 393, Leesburg, Ohio 45135, or the Leesburg Branch of the Highland County District Library, 10 Willetsville Pike, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.  The Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is serving the family.
