Mildred Correne Emmons, age 99, formerly of Allensburg, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at the Crestwood Nursing Center. She was born March 11, 1904 in Five Mile, Ohio the daughter of Simon Perry and Hattie Louisa Shumard Kibler. Mildred was baptized at the East Dayton Church of Christ in 1938, was a member of the Pricetown Church of Christ, and attended the Allensburg Church of Christ. In January 1920 she married Orpha Edison Roush. In her early-married life she left the farm and moved to Middletown and then to Dayton but she always loved her livestock and her garden. Her first husband preceded her in death October 13, 1944. Mildred married Karl Emmons in 1955. She enjoyed for many years her vegetable and flower gardens, sewing, and crocheting. He preceded her in death in 1980. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Inez Jean and Malvin Salomon of Beavercreek, Betty Aber of Hillsboro, sister Miriam Trindle of Batavia, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. 19 great-great grandchildren, 2 stepsons, Willard Emmons of Middleton and Fred Emmons of Florida, a son-in-law, Harry Shoop of Lynchburg. Along with her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Loren Roush, 3 sisters, Hazel Hoggatt, Stella Roades and Mabel Carlton, 2 brothers, Albert Leslie Kibler and Wilber Earl Kibler, 3 infant siblings and 2 grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg with Bob Steven officiating. Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
